Mobile wallet-connect still carries friction

Mobile-first design has become the default assumption in crypto betting, and wallet connection is the point where the experience most often breaks down. On desktop, a browser extension handles the interaction cleanly. On a phone, the user is typically passed between an app and a browser, and that handover is where problems appear.

The friction is not dramatic, but it is cumulative. Switching apps can interrupt a session, some wallets handle deep links better than others, and network mismatches produce error messages that are unhelpful to anyone without a technical background. Each step is a chance to lose a user who was ready to bet.

Progress is being made. Wallet-connect standards have improved, and more venues now support mobile flows without requiring a desktop detour. Self-custodial platforms such as Dexsport depend on this working well, since the wallet is the account.

The remaining gap is largely one of polish: clearer prompts, better handling of failed connections and consistent behaviour across Android and iOS. Until that is solved, mobile conversion will lag behind mobile traffic.
